Owner Sean Nash, a keen scooterist, has made his hobby his business. Originally focusing on second-hand Vespa scooters, in late 2015 Sean secured the Piaggio, Vespa and Gilera franchises for Birmingham.

Sean said “We chose to resurrect the Moto Continental name as it was an icon for scooterists from South Birmingham in the 1980s and had a fabulous reputation for being the place to go to for Vespa, a reputation we are determined to replicate at the reborn Moto Continental”.

The first customer of the new store was Mark ‘Maca’ McDonald, who arrived on the blue Vespa PX he had bought from the original Moto Continental shop in April 1986, almost 30 years earlier.

Maca commented “I couldn’t believe my eyes as I drove down Bristol Road South and saw the words ‘Moto Continental’; what a blast from the past and quite fortunate, as I was thinking of upgrading my Vespa bought from the original Moto

Continental shop 30 years ago in 1986. I thought I’d have to travel to buy one as I didn’t think there was a Vespa dealer in Birmingham anymore, but Sean and the gang were fantastic and got me sorted out straight away”.
